Ribbon Blender

The Ribbon Blender is one of the most versatile and widely used machines for dry powder and specialised paste mixing. Its design features a horizontal U-shaped trough and a fabricated ribbon agitator consisting of inner and outer helical ribbons. This double-helical action moves material in opposing directions simultaneously — radially and laterally — ensuring a thorough, convective blend in a relatively short cycle time.

The outer ribbon moves material towards the centre while the inner ribbon moves it towards the ends, creating a continuous folding and counter-flow effect. The result is fast, thorough blending with minimal unmixed zones. The U-trough can be jacketed for heating or cooling, and bottom discharge valves ensure minimal material hold-up. Our ribbon agitators are mirror-polished to pharmaceutical grade — as visible in our process photographs.
