Vacuum Trap

Protect your vacuum pump, recover your solvents — the essential safeguard for every vacuum drying system.

Vacuum Trap and Condenser

About the Vacuum Trap

A Vacuum Trap is a protective component installed between a vacuum process — such as a dryer or reactor — and the vacuum pump. Its primary function is to condense and trap vapours before they reach the pump, preventing contamination of pump oil, corrosion of pump internals and reduction of vacuum efficiency. Certain vapours — acids, solvents, water — can rapidly degrade a vacuum pump if not intercepted.

For applications requiring the highest level of solvent recovery and pump protection, a Vacuum Trap Condenser (Secondary / Cold Trap) is installed between the primary condenser and the pump. It acts as a polishing unit — capturing the remaining micro-vapours that the primary condenser does not fully condense, allowing the system to reach and maintain deep vacuum levels below 1 mbar.

Key Applications

Core Advantages

Extended Pump Life
Prevents moisture, acids and solvents from contaminating pump oil — dramatically reduces maintenance costs.
Maximum Solvent Recovery
Captures residual vapours after the primary condenser — recovering the final 2–5% of solvent per batch.
Deep Vacuum Maintenance
Condensing residual vapours prevents vapour loading on the pump — enables and maintains vacuum below 1 mbar.
Environmental Compliance
Final barrier preventing VOC release to atmosphere — supports regulatory compliance.
Cryogenic Capability
Can be designed for use with liquid nitrogen or dry ice/acetone baths for ultra-low boiling point solvents.
Simple Maintenance
Transparent bowl or easy-access drain for quick monitoring and removal of collected liquids.
